What Can I do with Draw-Lots 1.5?

Draw-Lots is a Computer Aided Design (CAD) program specifically engineered for the Pavement Marking Industry. The program assists with parking lot lay-out and provides color visualization of parking lots.

With Draw-Lots, you "paint" stall rows, hatch boxes, text (such as "Fire Lane"), flow control, ADA templates, and landscape features to the computer screen. These items can custom configured and you can edit the on screen elements.  For detailed features, click here.

I received the free demo, and there were parking lots I could not draw. If the program is not useful for me, why should I buy it?

Draw-Lots will not be useful in every situation or parking lot.  Draw-Lots was developed primarily for those pavement marking professionals who don't get engineering drawings from contractors for the jobs they do.  There is a large segment of pavement marking professionals who do smaller jobs which are acquired by them 'beating the bushes' or by contacts they have with asphalt laying companies.  If the demo doesn't appeal to you, our suggestion would be to forego the purchase.  However, some companies have used it in other ways (marketing is one) which has made it an invaluable tool.  Try it out thoroughly, think about its applications for your company and make an informed decision that is best for you or your company.

I received the free demo, but could not get it to work. Can I get technical assistance for the demo?

Absolutely. First, the demo is downloadable.  After downloading, use any compression utility (winzip, zipgenius or Windows XP) to unzip the files.  Next, run the setup.exe file to get the installation started.

If you have successfully installed the Draw-Lots 1.5 Demo and experience a program error or need to report a bug, please Contact Technical Support. Please do not submit "How do I ...?" Tech Support Requests for the demo - they will not be answered.

I am a registered user of Draw-Lots and had to reinstall Draw-Lots on my computer. The software key no longer works...what do I do?

First, don't worry. Your registration of Draw-Lots entitles you to receive at any time a 'reset key' for the software, which is free of charge. Simply contact Technical Support. If you contact Tech Support via email, be sure to include the company name and the registration number you registered. The software reset key can be emailed to you, or sent on a new floppy via regular mail.

This does not apply to users who received Draw-Lots as a download.

What shared access/networking support does Draw-Lots have?

Draw-Lots 1.5 must be installed on each computer on which it will be run. The anti-piracy measures employed by Draw-Lots 1.5 do not allow 'shared execution' of the program itself on simple peer-to-peer small office Local Area Networks. If, however, you are running Draw-Lots on Windows NT/2000 Server with Terminal Services installed, and have the Terminal Services Client License from Microsoft, Draw-Lots 1.5 should run effectively on the server machine. However, even in this set-up, the anti-piracy may cause problems due to the way these measures are hard coded in the program. If you are running in a terminal services configuration and get a message that says the Software Product Key does not exist, please contact Technical Support for assistance. In a terminal services configuration, all users will share one common set of Draw-Lots configuration files.

On the other hand, Draw-Lots 1.5 can share data files across small office peer-to-peer networks. In a peer-to-peer network, with Draw-Lots 1.5 installed on each computer, each user will have their own set of Draw-Lots configuration files. This means that each user can 'customize' Draw-Lots to their own preferences. Actual Draw-Lots Data Files can be saved and opened from any disk drive accessible on the network via the File Access dialog boxes.

Do I have to purchase Draw-Lots at full price for each computer on which I plan to use it? Is a site license available?

Draw-Lots 1.5 was engineered to run on single user computers, but peer-to-peer data sharing is possible. Therefore, 6-S Technologies, LLC has decided to offer a site license option for Draw-Lots. This will allow users to purchase one copy at full price and additional installation licenses at a reduced price.

The Site License requires, however, that all computers 'grouped' under one license be running at one location (office, suite or building). Such licensing does not prohibit installation on a laptop, so long as the principle location the laptop is used is the 'Site License Location.'

How do I learn Draw-Lots?

Draw-Lots is being designed specifically to use an intuitive Graphical User Interface, but all software takes time to learn. Draw-Lots includes a 'HELP' system that outlines the program's main features, obtaining technical support and examples for using the tools. The 'HELP' system is the main documentation.

I thought of a feature that may be useful to other Draw-Lots users. Can I make a suggestion?

Of Course!! The Draw-Lots development team welcomes suggestions from Pavement Marking Professionals. Though no software is all things to all people, the design goal defined by the Draw-Lots developers is to provide a useful tool for the industry. Further, we understand that a 'useful tool' is one that performs the tasks YOU require, and saves you time and effort.

Several working Pavement Marking Professionals have already provided input in the form of being 'beta-Testers' for the project. Many of the suggestions offered by these users have already been incorporated into the program, and still others are being developed for 1.x revisions.
